Power in the Potteries – Evolution of the Bottle Oven
Wednesday 17th September 1730 to approximately 1900 in The Canal Warehouse at Etruria Industrial Museum
Free light refreshment available.
The profile of a bottle oven against the skyline is very familiar to the people of Stoke-on-Trent but the 50 structures that remain chart changes in their design which took place over centuries of development. Join Potteries Heritage Society for an illustrated talk exploring how firing pottery became more precise and efficient as bottle ovens evolved. The event is scheduled alongside the “Power in The Potteries: Energy Exhibition” at Etruria Industrial Museum and is part of the City of Stoke-on-Trent’s centenary celebrations.
