SUMMARY:Connecting the Potteries to the World
DESCRIPTION:An illustrated talk exploring the 18th and 19th Century development of the canal network which drove the Industrial Revolution in North Staffordshire and made the mass production of pottery possible. We will look at the needs of the industry, the origins of the narrow canals system and the people who helped it grow. The talk is presented by Andy Perkin of the Potteries Heritage Society and will include time for discussion and questions.\nThis year is the 50th anniversary of the reopening of the Caldon canal to traffic the talk supports this celebration and the theme of this years national Heritage Open Days – Routes, Networks and Connections.\nThe event is free with free parking off Etruria Vale Road.  Please book on https://www.potteries.org.uk/connecting-the-potteries-book\n \n
